General Notes:
Arrived Port Philip Bay 18/10/1855 on board Gilmore.
Arthur Chapman notes: was a Waldock - a cousin of Thomas Charles Worboys who arrived in Australia in 1855 - from the book I'm writing. TC met up with him when he arrived in Australia "John Waldock (1836-1879) who emigrated on 18th Apr 1855 on the ship 'Gilmore' (Museums of History NSW 1824 - Reel 2137, [4/4792]; Reel 2470, [4/4949])" And Thomas Worboys only stayed in North Sydney for a few weeks before the stories of gold got the better of him and he wanted to find out for himself what they were. He had saved a few pounds, and although he had a good job, and enjoyed working for George Leith, he decided to look for his cousin John Waldock (1836-1879) who had arrived in the colony a couple of years earlier and was working for Mr. James Lambert in Clarence Town in the Hunter district ( Museums of History NSW 2024 Reel 2138, [4/4793]; Reel 2476, [4/4969]) . He eventually met up with him in Clarence Town (The Baptist 1908), and the two of them decided to head to Melbourne and meet up with some others who had recently arrived. One of those that they met up with was another cousin, George Worboys (1835-1860), who had emigrated in 1854.
