James Pollard

  General Notes:

The 1881 British census records James as a 28 y.o. carpenter living in the household of his father at Village, West Hoathly with his 26 y.o. wife, Betsy and children.

It would appear that James was born in about 1853, but ALL records except 1 (that would seem to be the 1881 census record, could his age then have been a mistranscript 23-28) make him born in about 1858. Even his death certificate makes him born in 1858. (email from Ann Webber nee Jackson acw715@btinternet.com)

James married Betsy Day on 8 Dec 1877. (Betsy Day was born on 24 Dec 1854 in Surrey England and died on 19 Mar 1934.)
