The 1871 British census (RG10/1059 f127 p7) records Benjamin a 45 y.o. living with his 47 y.o. wife and children Benlamin 17, William 14, Alexander 12, Annie 10, Eliza 7, and Clara 3.

The 1881 british census (RG11/1060 f132 p13) records Benjamin as a 55 y.o. hoop merchant employing seven men and one boy living at Selsfield, West Hoathly , Sussex with his 57 y.o. wife, Ann, daughter Eliza 17, and son William 24.

Benjamin married Ann Taylor. (Ann Taylor was born in 1823 in Worth, West Sussex England.)
