Nana would often talk of growing up in Kent. I had the impression she lived in a big house which had a tennis court and apple orchard. After she was married and had dad, they moved to Cambridge. Grandpa's favourite recollections were going to listen to the Christmas carol rehearsals at Kings College, Cambridge. I think Uncle John was born in Cambridge.
My father came out to South Africa in about 1948 and married Aileen Williams in 1949/50. They had 4 children, 3 girls and a boy (I am the middle girl). My mum passed away on 31 August last year 2010 but my dad celebrated his 90th birthday in June just gone. Ethel and John came out to South Africa in 1953 - the year I was born. Their second son (also John - about 7 years younger) came out SA about the same time I think (a bit fuzzy on that one) and he married and English girl, Janet.
I now live in England but most of the family are in South Africa. My cousin James (son of John Holland Cumberledge and Janet) moved to Australia about 4 years ago where he lives with his South African wife Debbie and their 3 boys.
